Successfully Connected

If you have ever used a laptop at a church meeting or function and gained wireless access to the Internet, you will recall a picture of your computer, a park bench and a world globe, all connected by red lines.  If all goes well (and it usually does!) the message appears on your screen: "Successfully connected to firstunitariancleveland."  You're in!

You don't have to be computer savvy to understand the significance of those simple, comforting words.  By participating in Sunday services, religious education, covenant groups, social justice programs or singing in the choir, we all become connected to one another in many ways, large and small.

Is that connection successful?  We do pretty well in our old-fashioned, 20th century way, but we could do better.  By hiring a part time staffer with an organized, creative mind and a solid grasp of ever evolving communications technologies, we could greatly improve our connections to each other and to our world.

Our proposed budget for 2010-2011 reflects our multi-year plan to raise salaries to "Fair Compensation" and our UU Association dues to "Fair Share."  It also includes the salary of that part time communications assistant who will oversee the web site, podcast forums and services, and provide technical support to bring our overall communications ability into the 21st century.

We invite you to join us in being Successfully Connected to First Unitarian Cleveland through your participation, your presence and your generous financial support.
