Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC) is a non-partisan coalition of faith communities and partner organizations in Cuyahoga County working together to build power for social justice.

First Unitarian Church is a proud member of GCC.  Our GCCcore team meets periodically to discuss issues and mobilize members of the congregation to take part in GCC assemblies and actions.

GCC has identified five areas of focus: education, jobs, health care, criminial justice, and food accessibility.  First U’s primary focus with GCC is in the area of education, but we welcome participation in any of the other areas of focus as well. Updates on GCC activities can be found in our weekly email blast and monthly newsletter.

About GCC

GCC’s mission is to unite people across lines of race, class, religion, and geography to promote public, private and civic sector actions which strengthen and improve the quality of life of our neighborhoods.  They challenge Clevelanders to imagine the change we can accomplish, connect individuals and organizations to multiply our power, and mobilize our members by the thousands to make our voices heard.  40+ congregations have come together to create the reality of this vision.

GCC is part of the Industrial Areas Foundation, the nation’s first and largest network of multi-faith coalitions, and draws on their seven decades of experience and the proven power of person-to-person organizing.  Rising Together, GCC is building the power necessary to create a Greater Cleveland.
