Becoming a member of our congregation starts with your first visit.  Attend a Sunday service at First U to learn how we worship together. Join us for coffee hour and meet our members.

We hold a variety of Sunday morning activities that help newcomers learn about our congregation.

  • First Sunday Tours –  we offer a guided tour of our building immediately following the worship service on the first Sunday of each month.  Tour leaders will help you get acquainted with our “split level” church and answer any initial questions you may have.
  • All-Church Breakfast – Second Sundays – sharing a meal is one of our favorite ways to get to know you. Meet us in Fellowship Hall at 9:30 am for a breakfast whipped up by our own Kitchen Crew.
  • Newcomer Coffee Chat – Third Sundays – meet us in the Library (on the first floor) after the service  for a special Q&A time with members of our congregation.

Our Community Forums, Covenant Groups, Religious Education programs, First Friday Fun nights, and other events are open to newcomers as well.

Once you’re ready to dive deeper into our community, we recommend attending a UU Discovery Luncheon.  Held quarterly, these four-hour interactive sessions offer a balcony view of Unitarian Universalist history and beliefs, the covenant that First U’s members all share, and what it means to be a member of our congregation.  Luncheon attendees are able to sign our membership book and become full members.
